When I celebrated my last dog birthday, it was a blast. But at the same time, I was confused about what treats should I give to my dog.

That’s when I decided to make a dog cake at home. As I researched further, I found more than 20 recipes and didn’t know what to make.

It was also important to learn about the ingredients that should or should not be used in dog foods. A bit of a learning curve I must say. Although Your dogs are Garman shepherd or Pitbull dog cake is suitable for both type and the cake will add a different test and also add value for dog care.

This post is all about dog cakes. I have some great recipes that you can make at home easily.

But first, let’s learn what dog cakes are.

What really is a dog cake?

Dog cakes are prepared with healthy and dog-safe ingredients. It’s food for a dog birthday or ‘Love your pet day’ celebration. Yes, on 20th February it’s a pet holiday, and most owners love celebrating.

We, humans, celebrate our birthdays with a gorgeous looking cake. Our dogs also have birthdays and owners who really adore them also wish their dogs could get a cake.

Let’s know more about the ingredients in dog cakes.

Which flour to use in dog cakes?

Most dry dog foods have flour as a binding ingredient. So, can you pick any flour and use it in dog cakes?

No. Not really. You can use white flour which is very common in households but is low in nutrients. I use whole wheat grain in most cases because it’s more healthy. You can also use non-grain flour if you have dogs that are sensitive to wheat.

My 5 most favorite Dog Cake Recipes.

My dogs love all of these 5 dog cakes, and these recipes never disappoint.

1.   Banana and peanut butter cake.

I made this dog cake first when one of my dogs turned two. I wish I could show you guys how happy he was to eat this cake that day.

Ingredients to use.

  • ½ cup of peanut butter.
  • ⅓ cup lactose-free water.
  • 2 cups of rice flour.
  • 2 bananas.
  • ¼ cup olive oil.
  • ¼ cup of honey.
  • 1 cup of cream cheese.
  • 3 eggs.
  • 2 tsp baking powder.

How to make it.

There’s a lot of mixing in this recipe. If you have a mixer, then it’s a lot easier.

First, mix the eggs and bananas together until it’s liquid. Then add honey, peanut butter and all other ingredients except cream cheese. That should give you a consistent batter.

Then bake the batter at 350℉. Use the cream cheese and peanut butter to make the frost. Add this to the top of the baked batter, and the cake is ready.

You can also make layers as you can see from this video below.

2.   Meat and carrot dog cake.

My dogs love beef, and it’s no wonder I give them beef dog cake occasionally. This recipe is packed with calorie and mouthwatering taste for your dog.

Ingredients to use.

  • 2 eggs.
  • 1 grated carrot.
  • 1 cup coconut flour.

First mix the shredded carrots and minced beef well with your hand or a spoon. Then add eggs, flour, and apple cider vinegar. Now, mix them with your hand. If the batter is lumpy, don’t worry. It’s like beef kebab!

Bake it for 20-25 minutes at 350℉. Mix the soft cheese and peanut butter and use them as icing on the top.

3. Apple Banana dog cake.

This is a cupcake recipe. Bananas and apples are both excellent for dogs. And when you have both in one recipe, that’s even better.

Apples good source of Vitamin A and C. Make sure you remove the seeds though. Bananas are good for your dog’s stomach. Let’s make this now!

Let the oven heat up to 350℉. Then Mix the shredded apple, apple sauce, and 1 mashed banana with flour and water. That should give you a thick mixture.

My dog just loves this food. The peanut butter and pumpkin just go too well together. I usually make little cupcakes out of this recipe and decorate them with mini bones on top.
